Methyl salicylate is an external analgesic , available in over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, that temporarily relieve minor body aches, muscle and joint pain. By stimulating the superficial afferent nerves from the same spinal segment that supplies the painful muscles, Methyl salicylate will relieve the pain in the deeper muscles .
