What is SPRINT LabCom ?

In partnership with the Bordeaux Institute of Technology (Bordeaux INP), and co-financed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), Seqens launched a new LabCom known as SPRINT in January 2020. This name means Robust Printable Photoactive Semiconductors Laboratory for New Technologies.

This project was initiated by Professor Guillaume Wantz, from the Bordeaux national graduate school of chemistry, biology and physics (ENSCBP) and Dr Pierre-Antoine Bonnardel, R&D Manager at Seqens. The laboratory joint-team focusses on the development of organic semiconductors.

Organic semiconductors products

These organic polymers represent a promising alternative to silicon-based semi-conductors, especially for solar energy and light detection, two applications at the core of the SPRINT Lab. They are intended to be used in the high-tech market thanks to the many advantages they offer (semi-transparent and flexible material, low carbon footprint, toxic substances free…).

The Seqens’Lab, our R&D center in Porcheville, develop the chemical synthesis of the polymers. We carry out screening tests at laboratory scale, using artificial doping to study the influence of various impurities. The selected polymers are then produced at pilot scale for device and physics studies at IMS (Integration from Material to Systems) laboratory of Bordeaux.

During the first year of the project, we are pleased to announce that SPRINT materials are showing promising performances that are at the state-of-the-art for both solar cells and photodetectors.

Seqens: an outstanding electronic know-how

Seqens owes its expertise in the development and manufacturing of specialty chemicals for electronics to its past with PCAS and Saint-Jean-Photochimie. These 30 years of experience allow us today to support material innovation thanks to a unique know-how.

From early stage to industrial scale, we custom-manufacture small molecules and polymers for semiconductor lithography and organic electronics. Quality is at the heart of our concerns. We therefore deliver products with a high level of purity.
