2-Ethylhexyl Acetate is a clear, polar solvent with low volatility suitable as a carrier solvent for nitrocellulose production and many other natural and synthetic resins used in a wide range of industrial applications.
2-Ethylhexyl Acetate is a high boiling solvent. Its hydrophobic, relatively polar in nature making it a good solvent for nitrocellulose and other resins commnly used in some lacquers. It has wide use as a leather industry solvent in dyeing and finishing functions aiding in film formation and flow.
Literature reports its use in fragrance formulations.It has a coalescing action in emulsion paints where VOC isn't a driving issue. Its advantes with film formation and flow brings benefits in certain application methods such as brush application, spray and dip-coating methods. Due to its compatibility with all common solvents, such as alcohols, ketones,glycols and glycol ethers and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons it is often used as an additive in cleaners and even paint stripping systems.
